Parks and Recreation Master Plan
The Greenacres Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a long-term roadmap that will guide the City’s investments in parks, recreational facilities, trails, and open spaces for the next decade and beyond.
This plan will:
- Assess the current state of Greenacres’ parks and recreation system
- Identify community needs and priorities
- Recommend future improvements, new programs, and park locations
- Outline strategies for funding, operations, and maintenance
- Support partnerships with nonprofits and private organizations
The plan is expected to be completed in 2026 and is being shaped by community feedback. It will serve as a guiding document to ensure that all residents—regardless of their age, background, or neighborhood—have access to high-quality parks, programs, and green spaces that promote health, community, and sustainability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
What is a Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP)?
- A PRMP defines the vision and goals for a community’s parks, recreation, trails, greenways, and open spaces. It also evaluates how well the system serves residents and identifies priorities for future improvements.
How will the PRMP be used?
- As Greenacres looks ahead, the plan will guide decisions about capital projects, programming, services, and potential land acquisitions. With an adopted plan, the City will also be eligible to pursue state and federal grants that require current master plans.
How long will the process take?
-
Community input is at the heart of this process. Residents will have multiple opportunities to share their perspectives through interactive meetings, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, pop-up events, and surveys. Input from these activities will shape recommendations, and residents will have the chance to review and provide feedback on the draft plan before it is finalized.
Who is completing this plan?
- The planning process is being managed by the City of Greenacres and facilitated by a consultant team led by Kimley-Horn.
