Business Tax Receipts
From October 2 through October 8, we will have limited access to our current software as we transition to the new MGO system. We will not be able to formally issue a new BTR until MGO is live. During this period, we will be able to accept Business Tax Receipts (BTR) applications and payments in person, and you may also schedule the required Fire Inspection if you have a complete application. However, new BTRs cannot be issued until the MGO system goes live. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please keep in mind that any payments made after October 2nd will have a 10% penalty added as stated above.
Dear Business and Rental Property Owners, please note the following changes for Business Tax Receipts:
All Business Tax Receipts (BTR), including Home Based and Residential Rentals expire on September 30, 2025 (these dates do not change). Along with your payment, you must include any updated State, County or other Certification/Licensing to complete your Renewal in order for us to issue your BTR. On October 1, 2025, delinquent fees will be applied to all unpaid BTR’s as required by Florida State Statute 205.053.
In efforts to improve the application process and manage Business Tax Receipts, we have partnered with MyGovernmentOnline, also known as MGO, to advance and enhance the application process effective shortly after October 8, 2025. This system will allow for better tracking and access than our old paper-based method. With MGO you can:
- Apply online and submit paperless documents for all BTR applications including new applications, additions or deletion of professionals, renewals of existing applications, as well as a change of address, name or ownership.
- Track the progress of BTR applications under review from submittal to approval.
- View and print copies of review comment letters.
- Request inspections online if needed.
All businesses must create an account with MGO at www.mgoconnect.org. Upon creation of an account and phone number verification, all applications associated with your phone number will be linked to your account (access to create your account will not be available until after October 8, 2025).
