Request for Interest - City Council Seat Vacancy (District 5)

The City of Greenacres is currently accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the City Council for District 5. The selected applicant will fill an unexpired term of office until the next Municipal Election for this seat in March 2028.

Application Deadline: Friday, October 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a qualified elector (registered voter) of the City of Greenacres.
  • Have been a continuous resident of District 5 for at least one (1) year.
  • Must be minimum of 18 years old.

Background on the Vacant City Council Seat

On Friday, September 19, 2025, Councilmember Paula Bousquet resigned from her District 5 seat on the Greenacres City Council.

According to the City Charter:

“Whenever the office of any City Councilmember becomes vacant, more than one hundred twenty (120) days prior to the next biennial election, the remaining members of the City Council shall elect his or her successor for the unexpired term, within thirty (30) days from the occurrence of such vacancy.”

Councilmember Bousquet’s term was originally set to expire in March 2028. Approximately 29 months remain in the term. As required by the Charter, the City Council will appoint a qualified individual within thirty (30) days of the vacancy to serve for the remainder of the term.

Selection Process

  • Complete the web form below or the PDF application and send to Cityclerk@greenacresfl.gov. Including a resume or CV is highly recommended. Anyone wishing to submit a paper application may do so at the City Clerk’s office, 5800 Melaleuca Ln.
  • The City Council will conduct applicant interviews and make a final selection at the Council Meeting scheduled for October 20, 2025.
  • Applications will be accepted from September 19, 2025 through October 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
