Garbage Service

The City of Greenacres provides residential and commercial garbage and recycling pickup through a private company-Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste SE. Disposal fees are assessed on the annual property tax bill. Please call Public Works (642-2071) for recycling bins and service. 

Residential collection fees for garbage and recycling are assessed on the annual property tax bill.  For inquiries, please call the Finance Department at 642-2013.

Commercial garbage service, please call Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste at 471-6110.

Vehicle Registration

New residents must register their vehicles and obtain Florida license tags upon establishing legal residency, by the day they begin work in Florida or by the time they register their children in school.  Proof of ownership and valid Florida insurance, previous out-of-state title or registration as well as the vehicle identification number and odometer reading are required.  For locations and costs, call the county tax collector’s office at 355-2622.
Driver License

A Florida driver license is required for any driver who becomes a resident, is employed or registers a child in a public school.  New residents must pass written, visual and driving examinations.  If moving from out of state, bring your out-of-state license and social security card or a second form of identification.  New residents need to take only a visual examination if they have a valid driver’s license from another state.  An appointment is recommended.  Offices are open Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Call 681-6333 to schedule an appointment.

You will need the following to enroll your child(ren) in area public schools:

  1. Two documents showing proof of residence such as a utility bill or voter registration card.
  2. A certificate of immunization which is available from physicians or the Public Health Department.
  3. Proof of physical examination during the past year.
  4. A copy of a birth certificate.
  5. A copy of the child’s last report card.

Register to Vote

To be eligible to vote, newcomers may register upon establishing residency.  You must be registered for at least 29 days to vote in any election.  To register, you must be 18 years old.  Call the county Supervisor of Elections at 656-6200.
