Adopt A Road Program

The City has implemented a program that would allow businesses and organizations from the community to adopt a road and assist the City in the removal of litter from City streets and sidewalks. In return for conducting clean-ups along the designated road, the group would be recognized with signage located at the beginning and at the end of the designated road section. Groups that wish to adopt a one-half (1/2) mile segment of City road right-of-way for litter removal purposes should contact the Public Works Department at 561-642-2072. We ask that interested groups contact Public Works to obtain an application and program guidance. The group shall commit to collect litter along the adopted segment of road at least four (4) times a year for a period of two (2) years.

Public Works will review the potential locations proposed by the group and determine the safest location to conduct a litter pick-up. Once a location is agreed upon, an Adopt-A-Road Agreement will be sent to the group for the signature of their representative. A safety orientation for the group will be scheduled shortly thereafter. Safety equipment will be loaned to the group at the initial safety orientation. The safety equipment will consist of orange safety vests for each member of the participating group, two (2) large portable roadside safety signs, large litter bags and safety gloves. For-profit groups that apply for the Adopt-A-Road program will be charged a $100.00 cost share fee to help offset program costs. Non-profit groups will have the fee waived. Roadways available for adoption are listed below. The selection criteria includes safety, length of segment and community exposure.
