Councilmember Susy Díaz is a proud Palm Beach County native and first-generation American who has dedicated nearly three (3) decades to making a meaningful impact in her community. Elected to the Greenacres City Council in 2022, Susy is passionate about driving positive change and strengthening the fabric of her community. 

A proud graduate of both Palm Beach State College and Florida Atlantic University, Susy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Social Sciences, as well as a Master of Arts in Political Science, graduating magna cum laude. She is also certified in Ethnic Studies, further enriching her understanding of cultural and social dynamics.

Susy’s professional career spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. In 2000, she was appointed by the Mayor of West Palm Beach to lead the Mayor’s Response Team, where she collaborated with department heads to resolve constituent issues effectively. She later transitioned to the nonprofit sector as Associate Director for the American Cancer Society, where she served as Advocacy Lead for Palm Beach County, cultivating key relationships at the local, state, and national level.

A passionate advocate for education, Susy has served as Executive Director of the Middle School of the Arts Foundation since 2013. In this role, she secures resources and forges relationships to provide educational enrichment for students at Bak MSOA, one of Palm Beach County’s top-rated public schools. She also fosters employment opportunities for local artists, enhancing the community's cultural vibrancy. Recognizing the crucial role education plays in community growth and development, Susy spearheaded the creation of the Education Advisory Committee in Greenacres.

An engaged and dedicated community leader, Susy is an alumna of Leadership Palm Beach County and a member of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches. She serves on the Advisory Council for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, is Vice-Chair of the Hispanic Human Resource Council, a Board Member of the Palm Beach County League of Cities, a member of the Hunger Relief Advisory Council, and a member of The Palm Beaches Community Values Committee.

Throughout her career, Susy has received numerous accolades, including the Hispanic Women of Distinction Award, the Esperanza Award, the Triunfo Award, the Luciano Martinez Humanitarian Award, the Oakley Service Award, multiple School District Business Partner Awards, and she was a finalist for the LPBC Leadership Excellence Award.

Susy lives in the north end of Greenacres with her husband and their blended family.
