Solid Waste & Recycling

Per Chapter 15, Article II of the City Code of Ordinances, it shall be mandatory for every owner of record of residential property within the City to pay the solid waste assessment for the collection and disposal of garbage, bulk trash, trash, recyclable materials and vegetative waste as provided for in the franchise agreement between the City and Advanced Disposal Services, Inc., for each residential unit located on the property.

The City shall bill owners of new residential property if the records are not placed on the tax roll in the initial year; otherwise, the annual assessment will be billed with the property tax that are payable beginning November of each year. 

Depending on the service type and the number of units a parcel reflects, the assessment will be multiplied by the type and the number of units for that parcel.  The residential solid waste collection assessment amounts, effective October 1, 2023, are as follows:

Curbside pickup $184.90 $177.50
Containerized pickup (dumpsters) 2x/week $123.40 $118.50
Containerized pickup (dumpsters) 3x/week $163.20 $156.70

*4% discount applies if the tax bill is paid in November; see tax bill for details about the discount.
