Palm Beach County Adopts New Redistricting Map
At the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, December 7th, the County Commissioners voted to adopt a new redistricting map for Palm Beach County.
The 'Redistricting Program' discussion was brought forth following the decennial population totals gathered in the 2020 Census. The priorities for the redistricting were to achieve population equity within the Commission Districts, compactness and contiguity of the Districts and to maintain the integrity of Communities of interest; including municipal boundaries.
The City of Greenacres, which a majority was previously represented by District 2, has been a forefront of the redistricting discussion with the County as a result in the population growth and demographic makeup released by the Census. After the new redistricting maps were adopted, the City now lies a majority within Commission District 3 with a small portion on the north end of our city remaining in District 2.
