Building Safety Inspections
The recent building collapse in Surfside, Florida, has heightened awareness of the need to proactively inspect aging building structures in the coastal areas of Florida, including the City of Greenacres (City). Now is the perfect time for you to engage licensed Florida design professionals to perform a thorough safety inspection of your building, particularly if it is approaching 40 years of age or older.
At the present time these safety inspections are strictly voluntary, however the Building Official is working with other Building Officials throughout the Palm Beach County to develop legislation that may potentially require building certification inspections in the near future. We are encouraging all property owners to act now to ensure the safety of all occupants.
We also want to remind condominium associations of their responsibilities regarding the maintenance of the property, Please see Florida Statute 718 for the complete requirements.
